High School Musical 3 – A review

High School Musical 3  is one the most successful youth oriented musical film of all time.  It is a  huge success in both the box office and in award giving bodies. It raked in $16  million dollars in its opening day, breaking the record for the biggest  opening ever for a movie musical. It made a total gross revenue of $252, 909, 177  to date as against its budget of $11 million. The movie gained several nominations and won awards from the most prestigious and credible award giving bodies worldwide.  This includes the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards, Kids’ Choice Awards, 2009 MTV Movie Awards and Teen Choice Awards 2009. It surpassed all the expectations  of its distributor , The Walt Disney Pictures.

High School Musical 3 is the third and the final series of the movie musical trilogy. The movie plot is about the teenagers’ struggles, hopes and reservations about the future. It tells about the pain of getting separated from their most treasured friends to go on to the greater heights of the challenge-laden world of adults. The story conveys of focus and firm stand on something that they believe in, despite of them being young.

 Troy Bolton, the lead character,  (Zac Ephron) will attend the University of Albuquerque on basketball scholarship while Gabriela Montez (Vanessa Hudgens) is eyeing Stanford University in California for her college education. Sharpay  Evans (Ashley Tisdale) planned a final musical show with her usual  mischievous  antagonistic conducts to get what she wants. The school  show turned to be an expression of how uncertainties loom above them when they have to make hard but crucial choices and decisions which is a part and parcel of getting older. Poetic justice is served at the end with each characters getting what they are worthy of.

 The cast delivered a great performance and showed their multi-faceted talents. They are all total performers showing great energy and passion for their craft.  The entire movie crew, from the director, song writers, choreographers and production staff showed exemplary ingenuity which is equally given justice by the actors. Production numbers are a delight to the senses. They were able to bring out the best in each other with apparent perfect working chemistry.

 High School Musical 3 is generally regarded as a feel-good movie. Notwithstanding the flimsy and thin plot, it  turned out to be  fun,  wholesome and entertaining. It is recommended for the whole family.
