Writing and editing services has transformed greatly over the years.  During the 80’s it was generally offered to the public by way of those small chair and table shops located along the busy streets of manila particularly the so-called University Belt and in other places where a college or school is located. 

It was back then offered as writing and editing services including typing jobs but in reality, it was just mostly typing and selling term papers, thesis and other finished and most of the time, copied paperwork.  Most of the decent businesses offering the service were confined to advertising and public relations agencies and the clients that can afford their services were only the big corporations at that time or wealthy politicians and other businesses such as publishing companies.

Right now, writing and editing services has morphed into a global business activity.  It has become a necessity for most businesses to avail of this service because of the ever-growing demand for more information and getting the message across by means of information will require in most instances, expert or at least quality communication. 

There are a lot of companies right now offering this type of business solution and more are expected to join the fray in the future due in most part to the non-stop advances and the ever-increasing need for more interaction between people and businesses.

But what does writing and editing services really do?How will it help my business?Is it indispensable?

These are just some of the questions that may be encountered when one is offering this kind of service to another person or entity.

Writing and editing services are focused on providing the needed flame in your business.  If you are a company with a good product and targeted market that is well within your range, you might say that there is no more need to engage this kind of service.  This thinking process is flawed.  Please bear in mind that no matter how good your products and services are, you still need to communicate how good you really are to your targeted customers and this can only be done by coming up  with a credible advertisement about your intentions by way of a good write-up or article writing.

Writing and editing services can come in many forms and apply in almost all instances where written words are the focus of attention.  It is applied in copywriting, script editing, book editing, doctoral thesis, and in almost any kind of writing that needs to communicate something. It has been an effective tool of many businesses for a long time and it will continue to be in the future. 

This brings us to the last question on whether it is indispensable, it can be answered in this manner; Try to picture in your mind a radio broadcaster who is known about cooking tips.  He is on-air, his script is ready, the PA is on stand-by for his signs, but when he opened his mouth he parroted words and ideas about politics and the economy that were not part of the script to begin with, thereby losing the focus intended by the script and losing his audience in the process.  Availing of a good writing and editing services is therefore indispensable to keep your company in focus and not lose direction.

High School Musical 3 – A review

High School Musical 3  is one the most successful youth oriented musical film of all time.  It is a  huge success in both the box office and in award giving bodies. It raked in $16  million dollars in its opening day, breaking the record for the biggest  opening ever for a movie musical. It made a total gross revenue of $252, 909, 177  to date as against its budget of $11 million. The movie gained several nominations and won awards from the most prestigious and credible award giving bodies worldwide.  This includes the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards, Kids’ Choice Awards, 2009 MTV Movie Awards and Teen Choice Awards 2009. It surpassed all the expectations  of its distributor , The Walt Disney Pictures.

High School Musical 3 is the third and the final series of the movie musical trilogy. The movie plot is about the teenagers’ struggles, hopes and reservations about the future. It tells about the pain of getting separated from their most treasured friends to go on to the greater heights of the challenge-laden world of adults. The story conveys of focus and firm stand on something that they believe in, despite of them being young.

 Troy Bolton, the lead character,  (Zac Ephron) will attend the University of Albuquerque on basketball scholarship while Gabriela Montez (Vanessa Hudgens) is eyeing Stanford University in California for her college education. Sharpay  Evans (Ashley Tisdale) planned a final musical show with her usual  mischievous  antagonistic conducts to get what she wants. The school  show turned to be an expression of how uncertainties loom above them when they have to make hard but crucial choices and decisions which is a part and parcel of getting older. Poetic justice is served at the end with each characters getting what they are worthy of.

 The cast delivered a great performance and showed their multi-faceted talents. They are all total performers showing great energy and passion for their craft.  The entire movie crew, from the director, song writers, choreographers and production staff showed exemplary ingenuity which is equally given justice by the actors. Production numbers are a delight to the senses. They were able to bring out the best in each other with apparent perfect working chemistry.

 High School Musical 3 is generally regarded as a feel-good movie. Notwithstanding the flimsy and thin plot, it  turned out to be  fun,  wholesome and entertaining. It is recommended for the whole family.

Leading Newspaper in Bangladesh

Prothom Alo Bangla Newspaper is a relatively new player in the field of print media, having started operations only in late 1998. But its roster of management from the publisher, the editor and the columnists are all seasoned and responsible veterans in their respective fields of expertise and as a result, the newspaper is now one of the most widely read newspaper in Bangladesh. Thanks to its no-nonsense form of news reporting and editorials, the newspaper quickly got the attention of readers and became a source of much needed information especially during critical times in the nation’s history.

The newspaper has been known early in its existence as a zealous guardian of the freedom of the press. It has made exposes’ in different issues affecting the national interest and the people’s welfare in general and as a consequence, it further earned the trust and confidence of its readers which enabled them to become the no.1 newspaper in Bangladesh.

But the road to success for Prothom Alo Bangla Newspaper was rocky and definitely not paved with rose petals, for while it gained the trust and confidence of its readers, it also became the object of hatred and anger of those affected by its news reporting and exposes’. It has even became a target in the campaign of extremists and other opposing elements in the process. The newspaper however, has not wavered in its dedication and continues to carry the torch of truth and fairness in its news reports, much to the admiration of its peers in the industry and even of those from other countries. Its editor at one time even became one of the Ramon Magsaysay Foundation awardee for excellence in Journalism, a feat that is hard to emulate by any given standards.

Prothom Alo Bangla Newspaper, aside from its journalistic excellence, is also aware of its social responsibilities and doubles as a partner of the government in promoting social improvement and amelioration. It has sponsored programs aimed at developing the youth as well as other sectors composing the wide spectrum of society.

Google Panda effect

The recent cleansing of the  web by means of Google Panda has brought opportunities for a lot of people, myself included (hahaha).  Suddenly there is now a sort of a mad rush for a lot of sites to write or rewrite articles about their site.  Whereas before a good number of them just copy/pasted information from other pages, now they need to come up with something unique about their site–something original and that has given writers like myself an opportunity to earn by means of article writing.

Since the topic of article writing has come into focus,  I just hope that the rates will go up to decent levels.  Writing is not just for anybody.  Sure, anybody can write, but to continuously come up with creative juices and put those creativity in the form of writing is an altogether different matter.  Not just anybody is cut out for this craft.

I have been writing for a couple of weeks now about drugs for a certain client and to tell you frankly, because of the hundreds of drugs that I initially wrote articles about, I feel like I can already pose as a pharmacist (hahahhh).  this is the beauty of writing – in some degree you become the article itself.  Article writing has enabled me to learn a lot of things that i never imagined I could have the chance of learning. Geez, i have even wrote about the bus schedule in Las Vegas!

Writing has its benefits especially in terms of new information and added horizon.  I just hope that, aside from additional wrinkles and added eye bags, it can also later on be enough to put food on the table.

 

 

PNPA Exams

Scheduled late this year is the PNPA exams for applicants wishing to join the country’s elite  police officers.  Many of the aspiring youth are waiting for this opportunity to be given the chance to become among  the future leaders of the country and rightly so because aside from the prestige that comes along with the position after graduation, it also serves as a beacon of hope for academically gifted but financially burdened students.  An applicant once accepted will be entitled to full board and lodging plus monthly salary and allowances that ranges from about P15,000 to P18,000 gross!  This is the reason why thousands of graduating high school students wish to join the bandwagon of applicants for both the PMA and PNPA.

Never mind if as a plebe they will encounter physical and mental torture, never mind if as a cadet they will be subjected to humiliating and demeaning experiences, never mind if as a trainee they will be made to memorize and recite mantras that will become part of their daily existence.  All of these and many more just to become a part of a prestigious organization of men in uniform.

But there is an immediate concern that clouds the genuiness of the PNPAs intention when it comes to this year’s recruitment of trainees and that is the lack of available application forms for the would be candidates. The police stations that normally maintain a copy of the said form  could not produce any right now.  Their website, which was the usual source of the application form is down and is of no use.  Many candidates are already frantic and trying to find ways to obtain a copy of the said form.  Their frustration is evident whenever one visit and read the many posts and comments on facebook pages that pose as a PNPA page.

What could be the reason for the unavailability of application forms is perplexing to say the least.  Could it be that they have already reached the quota needed for the number of applicants? or worse, could it be that they already have a pre-screened applicants for batch 2016 such that this years examinations is only for the sake of formality?  This and many more questions will keep lurking in the minds of candidates who are still trying to get a hold of that precious application form.
